And we are not moving to Brooklyn, because we are apparently no longer wealthy enough to live a normal life in the city.  We are buying a lovely house in Stonington, CT

 

 

I’m selling my co-op in Greenwich Village / East Village so I can move to Brooklyn and have a little more space.

The apartment is in a great location in a wonderful building.  It gets fantastic light and the roof desk is literally one flight up from my front door. Close to Astor Place (new IBM Watson and Daily Mail Online locations, AOL, J Crew HQs etc.) and Union Square with the world-famous farmers’ market, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and seven subway lines.

I added QuantaPanel windows last year which reduces noise and cuts down on heating and cooling costs.

For an apartment of this size there is a lot of storage.  There is a walk-in closet, a six foot wide coat closet by the front door, and a 5 foot wide linen/clothes closet across from the bathroom (see floor plan below).

The kitchen was also updated last year with new birch counter tops and subway tile backsplash.  The LG Fridge/Freezer, GE dishwasher, and Avanti stove are all less than six years old.  Lighting is dimmable LED throughout.  Central air and heat with thermostat and local fan unit. Maintenance charges include heating and cooling – only electricity for the blower is charged – utility bills have never been more than $100/ month, even in mid winter or mid summer (and I work from home).

The building has full time maintenance staff, 24 hour doorman and live-in Super.  50mbps internet is available through either Time Warner or RCN.  Pied-a-terres *are* allowed by the co-op board.
